The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has proudly announced the recipients of the 2025 National Trucking Industry Awards, recognising individuals and organisations that have demonstrated exceptional dedication and innovation within the trucking sector.
These awards highlight the vital contributions made to the industry and the broader Australian economy.

Outstanding Contribution to the Australian Trucking Industry: Mark Tobin, Managing Director of Followmont Transport, has been honoured for his lifelong commitment to the industry. Beginning his career in 1991, Tobin has held various roles, including mechanic, driver, and CEO. Under his leadership, Followmont Transport has expanded significantly, employing nearly a thousand people across Queensland and New South Wales. Tobin's philanthropic efforts, such as his participation in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, where he raised close to $100,000 annually, further underscore his dedication to both the industry and the community.

National Professional Driver of the Year: Brad Train of VE Group has been recognised for his exemplary driving record and commitment to safety. With 27 years of experience, Train is adept at handling heavy traffic and oversized loads. His meticulous approach includes thorough route planning and load measurement to ensure compliance and safety.

National Trucking Industry Woman of the Year: Ann Lopez from Lopez Bros Transport has been celebrated for her significant contributions to the industry. As a leader in her organisation, Lopez has played a pivotal role in promoting diversity and inclusion within the trucking sector, inspiring many through her dedication and leadership.

National Trucking Industry Workforce Award: Border Crane Consultants, based in Wodonga, Victoria, received this award for their commitment to workforce development and safety. Their initiatives have set a benchmark for best practices in employee training and engagement within the industry.

TruckSafe John Kelly Memorial Award: Jim Pearson Transport of Port Macquarie, NSW, was honoured for their unwavering commitment to safety and compliance. As one of the early adopters of the TruckSafe accreditation, they have consistently demonstrated excellence in safety standards.

Don Watson Memorial Award: Kathy Williams AM was recognised for her extensive service to the trucking industry. As a former Chair of the ATA and a dedicated advocate for the sector, Williams has played a crucial role in shaping industry policies and standards.

The awards were presented at the ATA Foundation Sponsors Gala Awards Dinner on 30 April in Adelaide, coinciding with Trucking Australia 2025. This event not only celebrated the achievements of the awardees but also featured numerous business sessions and networking opportunities, reinforcing the industry's commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
